Police Department awarded traffic enforcement grant

STONEHAM, MA - Chief Richard Bongiorno is pleased to announce that the Stoneham Police Department is the recipient of a traffic enforcement grant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security. This grant will allow officers to be assigned specifically to traffic law enforcement, with a particular focus on drivers who are impaired due to drug or alcohol use. The Stoneham Police Department joins over 240 other Massachusetts police departments and the Massachusetts State Police in support of this Drunk Driving. Over the Limit. Under Arrest. Mobilization. This statewide effort runs from July 2 to July 23, 2008, and combines extra traffic enforcement, public information, and community outreach to reduce motor vehicle-related fatalities, injuries and economic loss due to impaired driving.
